The Free Tram Zone covers the majority of the Melbourne City Centre (CBD) and Docklands. As long as your journey starts and finishes inside this zone, your tram ride is 100% free—no ticket, card, or registration required.

The zone covers the central city grid plus the Docklands waterfront area.
- North Boundary: Victoria Street / Peel Street (includes Queen Victoria Market)
- South Boundary: Flinders Street (includes Federation Square & Flinders Street Station)
- East Boundary: Spring Street (includes Parliament House & Treasury Gardens)
